Fast growing counter-drone company A sensor completed a strategic acquisition by buying a Finnish aircraft manufacturer Atol Aviation. With this agreement, Sensofusion expands its services and brings to the market air-to-ground surveillance systems where airfields will be built on a former air force site in Finland.

HELSINKI – Fast-growing Finnish defense technology company Sensofusion has acquired Finnish aircraft manufacturer Atol Aviation. The acquisition brings aircraft and drone manufacturing expertise and manufacturing capabilities to the Sensofusion group, further expanding the company’s ability to conduct air-to-ground sensor investigations.

Atol Aviation operates in Halli, Finland at a former Finnish Air Force base, where the company has developed Aurora Atoll amphibious aircraft and Protector of the Atol aircraft designed for authority and protection use.

Aerial drone detection covers a much wider area than ground-based systems. If the terrain, forests and buildings do not block the propagation of the signal, the sensor system installed in the aircraft multiplies the size of the monitored area. This represents a significant leap in performance, especially for universal surveillance and for rapidly changing operating conditions.

Sensofusion plans to introduce new products at the Atol factory, expand its operations and hire more staff. Sensofusion will announce more about new products in June 2026.
