Six people who died at a Colorado Dairy farm in August were exposed to auldic sulphide gas, authorities said Thursday, citing autopsies and toxicology reports on the deceased’s bodies.
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), exposure to hydrogen sulfide gas “at very high concentrations can lead to immediate death.”
Autopsy reports did not indicate the circumstances of death.
Hydrogen Sulfide is colorless, but has a sweet smell, like rotten eggs. Osha warns that those who breathed in enough hydrogen sulfide to feel it but survived may suffer from long-term health effects, such as headaches and headaches and headaches and a period of poor attention.

The deceased has since been identified as Ricardo Galvan, Noe Montañññzañez Casañas, Carlos Espinoza Prado, Jorge Sanchez Pena, Alejandro Espinoza Cruz and Oscar Espinoza Leos, who was only 17 years old at the time of his death. Cruz was the father of Leos and Prado. The suspects are also related to Pena by marriage, according to Jolene Weiner, Weld County Chief Deputy Coroner.

When the death was discovered in August, authorities quickly determined that the gas exposure was not an isolated incident. At that time we became investigators to find out what kind of gases played a role in their deaths.
“We are investigating these deaths as the result of exposure to gas in a confined space,” Weiner said at the time.

The death shocked the community, which immediately came into action to help the surviving families to spoil the deceased by organizing money, such as dances and cleaning the car. Several churches have also organized Memorial events.

“People are shocked. Everyone in the dairy community knows it’s hard, hard work and there are risks,” said Rew. For Fufel, a priest in Catholic churches including Holy Family in Keenesburg. “But this is foreign to them, in that the accidents are usually one or two people.”
FOX News Digital reached out to OSHA for comment, but a message indicated they may not be able to respond during the government shutdown.
