Social media explodes after Stephen King blasts Trump before the State of the Union

Horror author Stephen King is facing online backlash Monday for a book that chronicles the life of President Donald Trump, including a line that Trump has no children.
“Trump: he never had a child. He was married 3 times. He ran several businesses on the ground. He did not run a household, he could not make a bed to save ia–. He calls his colleagues dumb, lost, etc. He has never done a sweat job. He has never worked on a local committee,” King said in a post to X.
“[He] he has no life experience,” added King.
The post quickly began to be criticized on accounts such as TikTok’s Libs.

“Trump has 5 kids. What is this sh–?” Libs for TikTok posted on X.
“Um… I’m pretty sure Donald Trump had kids,” Project 1776 PAC founder Ryan Girdusky posted on X.
“Do we have a 25th Amendment right to pick up people’s phone calls?” Conservative writer Bonchie wrote in X.
“Donald Trump, famously childless,” conservative reporter Jerry Dunleavy jokingly writes in X.
King’s comments come as Trump, a father of five and in his second term as president, is expected to address the nation Tuesday evening at the 2026 State of the Union, a report to Congress on the administration’s work.
King’s comments echo similar social media comments made by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., a prominent progressive member of the House of Representatives, on Saturday.
In a tweet posted by an account called “Stacy Is Right,” a self-described MAGA mother of three, the author similarly disparaged aspects of Ocasio-Cortez’s life and background.
The post also mocks the Democrat for having no children, never being married, never running a business and never having a “professional career.”

“[She] he has no real life experience. You are a typical deadbeat socialist,” Stacy Wright said in her post.
King also shared that post before making his own comments about Trump.
“He copied the entire post…which was about the AOC…and then used it on Trump……which is untrue to him and makes no sense. Why are you plagiarizing? I thought you were the author?” Matt Van Swol, a former Department of Energy nuclear scientist, wrote in X.
Monday’s post isn’t the first time King has taken to X to express his political views. Since Trump’s second term, King has used the same language to describe the president and his policies.

“I just wanted to say that Trump is a traitor, Putin-dipsh–! Goes double for Elon!” King said in the post in February 2025.
Earlier this year, King took to social media to compare ICE to Nazi Germany’s Gestapo.
“ICE is America’s Gestapo,” King wrote, referring to Germany’s secret state police.

“Trump is destroying the economy with his stupid taxes,” King said in another incident in April.
King’s office did not respond to a request for comment on the message in his post.
