FIRST ON FOX: Wealthy Hollywood attorney Kevin Morris signed up Hunter Biden’s legal defense and other bills while facing federal gun and tax fraud charges, and is now helping finance the presidential campaign of one of Hunter’s most vocal defenders, a new campaign filing revealed.

A campaign filing released Tuesday revealed that Morris, who has been called Hunter’s “sugar brother” for his legal debts and lavish lifestyle, has donated $29,900 to Rep. Eric Swalwell’s, D-Calif., gubernatorial campaign on Feb. 2.

Swalwell, who reportedly helped arrange Hunter’s surprise press conference outside the Capitol in December 2023 while defying House Oversight Committee appeals to testify behind closed doors, has been one of the biggest critics of the GOP’s investigation into Hunter during the Biden administration.

“There is no evidence that Hunter or his father committed any corruption,” Swalwell said at the time. “So I will not sit idly by and let MAGA Republicans do Trump’s bidding in Congress.”

Morris and the younger Biden first met in 2019 at a campaign event for Biden’s then-Vice President father, and the two ended up having a rocky relationship at what Morris called “another low point.”[s]”In Hunter Biden’s life. Morris ended up spending so much money, more than $6.5 million, that Politico worriedly reported that he couldn’t keep up with Hunter Biden’s legal bill if the case went to trial, which didn’t end up going to trial.

Morris also reportedly helped pay for Hunter Biden’s luxury homes, bought more than a dozen paintings of the former president’s son and helped young Biden pay his due taxes.

While assisting Hunter Biden, Morris faced numerous bar complaints, including from Trump-affiliated America First Legal, which accused Morris of violating the California Code of Conduct after he was publicly photographed smoking marijuana while Hunter Biden, a recovering addict, was visiting.

Morris was also accused of trying to sneak onto the set of a film about Hunter Biden’s wrongdoing, but was eventually cleared by the California state attorney general’s office.

SWALWELL VOWS TO MAKE ‘UNCERTAIN’ COURT AGENCIES IN CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT POSITIONS

A person close to the Hollywood lawyer told Politico that the reason why Morris decided to help Hunter Biden was because he realized that no one else would step up to support him.

Swalwell’s support at the 2023 press conference for keeping the “Senate swamp,” a popular area near the Capitol that is often used for press conferences, raised questions at the time about whether the California congressman played a role in the then-first son’s decision to deny a subpoena from Republicans seeking to question him about alleged crimes and other financial deals.

Morris, who previously donated more than $6,000 to Swalwell’s House campaign in early 2023, and Swalwell stood by each other’s side during a viral press conference later that year.

“It’s ruffling a flock of feathers together,” a longtime GOP pundit told Fox News Digital. “Eric Swalwell is Hunter Biden’s biggest fan – from ending the Senate Swamp to defending the string of illegal activities of the Biden Crime Family.”

Morris and Swalwell also have ties to China that have raised questions from critics. In 2024, Morris convinced lawmakers that he still had a hand in a Chinese private company that took over from the president’s son. Morris first acquired the shares after buying Skaneateles LLC, a company Hunter previously owned, in the fall of 2021 as pressure mounted for Hunter to divest amid concerns about his value at the Chinese company.

Swalwell has long been criticized for his ties to China after it emerged that he was suspected of spying for China during his early years as an elected official. The incident led to Swalwell’s dismissal from the powerful House intelligence committee a few years later when the allegations became public.

Fox News Digital reported last month that despite Swalwell’s outspoken criticism of relations with China, his campaign for minister has received several donations from a Chinese law firm and its only US-based lawyer, Keliang “Clay” Zhu.

Representatives for Swalwell did not respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment by the time of publication.
