The best wireless headphones (2025): tested for hours

Other wireless headphones we’ve tested
Wireless headphones are the default these days, and there are about 1 gazillion of them (and counting). We do our best to test them all, but not everything we test can make the big list. Here are some great options to try.
Status Audio Pro X for $249: The Status Audio Pro X is an excellent pair of earbuds that are slightly underpowered by their regular competitors when it comes to everyday use. That said, these headphones look and sound great, with an arric driver array (powerful for bass, two balanced armatus in the mid and high end), allowing them to stand out from many other earbuds.
Sony WH-1000xM5 for $398: Sony’s XM5 remains a superior headphone, even after being supplanted by the fancier XM6. For a reasonable price break, you’ll get the smoothest noise canceling technology, loud noise, and Luxe comfort in a very portable package.
Beyerdynamic ami iron 300 for $280: These premium in-ears from Beyerdycynamic look great – they look and don’t have noise canceling to compete with Nony and Bose, but they sound great. If you’re looking for a good-sounding pair that you can’t find in the public eye, these are a great option for luxurious luxury.
Bowers & Wilkins Pi8 Earbuds for $500: Bowers & Wilkins brings its communication power to the world when it comes to premium earbuds. The PI8 offers a Premium and Stylish Build, excellent sound quality, and strong noise cancellation, albeit at a very high price point. Like other earbuds we’ve tested recently, one of the PI8’s best features is the ability to stream audio from wired audio sources via a charging case, which can come in very handy on long flights.
Edifier Stax Posti S5 for $500: These top-flight headphones fall short of noise cancellation, but make up for crystal clear sound from their high-quality PlanAr Magnetic drivers that use special Magnet technology for crystal clear silence. If you can’t afford their high price, they’re a fun investment that covers the meat of your music like few headphones in their class.
SoundCore A40 Space for $45: Even though they’re off our top list, the Space A40 is still among the best earbuds you’ll get for the money. Their stylish, premium-looking design is packed with solid features, clear and detailed sound, and great sound quality to cancel out the price.
Sonos ace for $399: The sonos ace is an affordable but impressive first effort from sonos, with great noise cancellation, great sound, and one of the comfiest designs (if not this page comfiest) you will find in this game. A few early software bugs hindered their functionality upon release, including trouble with the TV switch feature that allowed you to bypass audio from Sonos Sound
Beats Solo 4 for $150: We love headphones these days, but this pair was just lacking in features for us at its $200 price point. Now that they’ve dropped, we can strongly recommend them to people looking for wireless headphones that don’t have noise cancellation.
Technology beah-az80 for $161: The AZ80 is a great earpiece. Their most notable feature is easily fit three devices at the same time, but they finish strong with good noise canceling tech, top tier quality, and seven different ear options, and seven different options for the right comfy ear.
Beats Studio Pro for $250: Studio Pro offers quality performance, including crystal clear sound, excellent noise cancellation, and a natural refresh mode. The design feels a little cheap, and it skips features like auto-rest, but the extras like Siri-free Siri and tracking with spatial audio suppy their value – especially since it is sold at the original price of $ 350 MSRRP.
Sony WH-CH720n for $150: These Sony Cans may have a silly name, but their high price makes up for it. It’s not as durable as the top options and even comes with a case, but their sound quality and noise cancellation are good for the money. They are also built to last and have battery life that goes on and on, making them a great choice for discerning consumers.
Master & Dynamic MH40 for $399: M & D’s Second-Gen MH40 PACK ORH440 sound is equally beautiful in design, with cool luxury like lambskin leather and metal surfaces instead of plastic. Their lack of advanced features, apart from noise cancellation, makes them an expensive portal to minimalism, but they have the style of days.
Audio Technica Athth-M50xbt for $219: The original Ath-M50x provides balanced sound and great stability, making them great for music and film studies. But what if you want to take them with you between takes? Enter the Ath-M50xbt, compatible with wired studio connection and Bluetooth wireless freedom. They don’t offer noise cancellation or other advanced features but they are great at meldring and playing.
Unlocked Sony LinkBuds: The open Linkbuds have a neat trick: speakers with holes in the middle that let you know the world around you for environmental awareness. They are not so hot for noisy environments, reducing their use cases, but they are among the best options in the development of earbuds.
If you’re new to wireless headphones or need a refresher, here are some helpful pointers to know before you buy.
Noise cancellation technology that uses an external microphone and digital processing to take the sounds around you and put their frequency poles, actually canceling them at a rapid pace to create the impression of peace.
Toddler Modeaka “Hear-through” or “present” sound mode, which is the opposite of noise cancellation, using your external virophones of hertphones to bring the sound around you. This can keep you aware of your surroundings, which is especially useful when you’re working, walking around attractions, or just having a quick chat.
Bluetooth A wireless format used by all wireless headphones to connect and play audio from devices such as a phone, computer, or tablet.
Bluetooth MultiPiyoint Connectivity allows Bluetooth headphones to connect to more than one source device (such as a phone or computer) at a time. This useful feature allows you to easily switch between your connected devices to do things like phone or video calls or watch a video on your computer between your spotify sessions.
Get mine Is an apple feature that allows you to track devices like your airpods from the web. Most non-Apple wireless headphones also have some form of find my feature, though it’s usually reserved for earbuds due to their small size.
IP ratings used for electronic installations are dust and water resistant. In general, the higher the IP rating of the device, the better the dust and water resistance. You can read more at IP-ratings CECEEN.
The EQ It stands for equalization, which in the case of wireless headphones, uses digital processing to adjust parameters such as Bass, Midrange, and Treble. EQ presets are the most common, but various EQs are better for those who want advanced control over each register of the sound.
Charging cases It is included in almost all completely wireless earbuds, allowing you to set the buds in the case of re-watching on the go. Most charging cases offer two or more cases, and to replace the case itself, you usually use a USB-C cable or a wireless charger.
We test headphones and earbuds for our lifestyle. We take them to the gym, wear them to the office, take them with them, and generally try to use them as we expect potential buyers to use them. If a couple advertises dust or water resistance, we check that. We throw down test cases, test cables, charging times, and battery life, and notice everything we find unique to our readers.
While we don’t use a set playlist to test each pair, we aim to test acoustic, rock, hip-hop, pop, country, and a variety of genres with all types of headphones, volumes. For noise reduction, we test headphones in real world environments and comment on the findings. Whenever possible, we try to have headphones worn by a variety of people with different types of head and ear types, to ensure that we are thinking about the widest possible audience.
