John Bolton, Trump’s Ex-National Security Adviser, is charged in a classified information document
Former Trump administration national security adviser John Bolton was charged Thursday with keeping top secret records at home and sharing similar notes with relatives about his time in the government that contained classified information.
The 18-count indictment shows classified information in which operations believed to be connected to an Iranian email account hacked an Iranian email account in 2021 and obtained the secrets it once had.
Bolton’s representative told the FBI that his emails had been hacked, prosecutors said, but they did not know whether he had shared classified information about the account or whether the hackers had access to the information.
The investigation of Bolton, who served for more than a year in the US President Donald Trump’s Administral before the shooting in 2019, burst into public view in August, when the FBI searched his home in Washington, where the FBI is organized in Washington, DC, with classified records that may have been held from his government.
The suit, filed in federal court in Greenbelt, MD. But after leaving Trump’s first administration, Bolton emerged as a prominent and vocal critic of the President.

Bolton’s attorney says the charges against his clients are “undisclosed, shared only with his immediate family, and notified by the FBI going back to 2021.”

Although the investigation that produced the case continues during the administration of the bid and began before Trump’s second term, the case will take place in the background of wider concerns regarding his justice department.
Following different statements last month accusing former FBI director James of lying to the US Congress and New York Attorney Letitia James Letitia James of bank fraud and committing crimes denied.
Both cases were filed in a federal court in Virginia by prosecutor Surassily, who was quickly put in charge after growing frustrated that the investigation of high-ranking adversaries was not a prosecutor.
The Bolton case, in contrast, was filed in Maryland by a US attorney who before being promoted to a career prosecutor in the office.
The letter was investigated
Questions about Bolton’s handling of classified information returned on the day.
He faced a Justice Department investigation after he left a position related to information about a 2020 book he published, The room where it happenedthat has exposed Trump as being misinformed about foreign policy.
The Trump administration has argued that Bolton’s manuscript includes classified information that could harm national security if disclosed.
Bolton’s lawyers said they were moving forward with the letter after the White House National Security Council chief, Bolton also said, said the manuscripts no longer contained classified information.
The previously unseen sworn warrant claims that a National Security Council official had reviewed Bolton in 2020 and that it appeared to contain “significant amounts” of high-profile information.
Lowell said many of the documents seized in August were approved as part of a pre-publication review of Bolton’s book.
He said many of them are old, from his client’s long career in the State Department, as a lawyer and as an Ambassador.
Agents during the search in August seized many documents labeled “classified,” “confidential” and “confidential” from the Bolton Court office, according to a previous court filing. Some of the records taken seem to relate to weapons of mass destruction, “strategic communications” and the US mission to the United Nations, it is said.
The hiring dates back to the Reagan Administration
The claim is a dramatic moment in Bolton’s long career in government.
He served in the Justice Department during the Ronald Reagan administration and was the State Department’s point man on arms control during the George W. Bush administration.
Bolton was nominated to serve as US ambassador to the UN, but a staunch supporter of the Iraq war could not win Senate confirmation and resigned for 17 months as a Bush Recess appointment. That allowed him to hold the job temporarily without the Deputy’s confirmation.
In 2018, Bolton was appointed to serve as the Third National Security Advisor. But his short tenure was marked by conflicts with the President over North Korea, Iran and Ukraine.
Those rifts ultimately led to Bolton’s departure, with Trump announcing on social media in September 2019 that he had accepted Bolton’s resignation.
Bolton then criticized Trump’s approach to foreign affairs and government in his 2020 book, including that Trump was directly arrested for providing military assistance in the 2020 election, who would be Trump’s 2020 opponent.
The President responded by slamming Bolton as a “gead-up guy” and a drazy “furhonger who would have led the country” into a six-world war. “
Trump also said at the time that the letter contained “highly classified information” and that Bolton “didn’t have permission” to publish it.
