The Israeli army launched an attack on Gaza, a ceasefire with Hamas under strain

The Israeli military said it launched airstrikes and artillery fire on sources in the south of Gaza on Sunday, dimming the hope that Israel led to a lasting peace with the Hapas of the Palestinian Authority.

The attack on Israel on Sunday was the biggest test of the already fragile elimination base, which went into effect on Oct. 11.

The Israeli army said in a statement that the militants targeted the soldiers in the Rafah area and that the fire was blamed on their soldiers. This means that the attack destroyed the tunnels and buildings of the soldiers.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel will retaliate with force against Hamas that attacked its soldiers.

The armed Hamas in a statement that remains in the agreement of fire attacks throughout Gaza, added that it was not aware of the conflict in Rafah and that it has not been in contact with the groups there since March.

“We confirm our full commitment to the implementation of all agreements, the most important of which is the cessation of fire in all areas of the Gaza Strip,” Al-Qassam Brigades said.

Witnesses in Khan Younis said they heard a wave of Airstrikes launched in Rafah early Sunday afternoon.

Israeli fire kills at least 8 in Gaza: Health officials

Gaza’s health ministry said on Sunday that Israeli attacks had killed at least eight people in the past 24 hours.

An Israeli military official said earlier on Sunday that Hamas attacked Israeli forces inside Gaza, including rocket attacks and sniper attacks against Israeli soldiers.

“Both of these incidents took place in Israeli-controlled territory…. This is a brazen violation of the ceasefire,” the official said.

Israeli Defense Minister KATZ said the “yellow line” where Israeli forces have been drawn under the cease-fire agreement will be physically marked for any breach of fire or attempt to cross the line.

Hamas Official Izzat Al-Risheq said on Sunday that the Palestinian militant group remained committed to the ceasefire, accusing Israel of repeated violations.

The government press office in Gaza said on Saturday that Israel had committed 47 violations after the end of the withdrawal, leaving 38 dead. “These violations included the direct shooting of Centian, the deliberate involvement and manipulation of activities, and the arrest of several civilians,” the statement said.

Rafah falls to stay locked up

The government of Israel and Hamas have been accusing each other of violating the ceasefire for days, and Israel, the Rafa border crossing between Gaza and Egypt will remain closed until it is closed.

Israel and Hamas also engaged in a dispute over the return of the bodies of the dead hostages. Israel demanded that Hamas fulfill its obligations in returning the remaining bodies of all 28 hostages.

Hamas, which returned all 20 hostages alive and dead, says it has no desire to keep the bodies of the hosts. The group said the process requires effort and special equipment to find the bodies buried under the debris.

Major obstacles to US President Donald Trump’s Genld Trump plan to end the war remain. Important questions – including the prosecution of Hamas, the management of Gaza, the formation of the anctional “reinforcement forces” and the continuation of the creation of the state of Palestine – are yet to be resolved.

When asked for comment, the US embassy in Jerusalem referred questions to the State Department.
