The leader of the Venezuelan opposition was excluded from the Covert Moussion for Nobel Prize agreement

A US covert team worked to take out Venezuela’s opposition leader, María Corina Machado, as her daughter accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on her behalf in Europe.
Special forces officer Bryn Stern describes the treacherous operation and the steps taken to get him safely out of Venezuela.
“It was dangerous for him – very dangerous for him – dangerous for everyone involved, frankly,” said Surter, head of the Gray Full Rescue Foundation, on Fox’s Kilmeade Show. “

Machado shocked the world when he appeared on a balcony in Oslo, Norway, on Thursday, thousands of miles from Venezuela.
Stern explained that his team was working on a trip to Venezuela, but when he was first approached about the project, they had no idea that such a large number would be involved.

“We didn’t know it was María at first,” she said, adding that reading her ID changed “everything.”
“He’s been my hero for years. To be asked to take part in this — let alone lead this project — is probably the greatest honor I’ll ever have in my career,” he added.

“María didn’t complain once,” Strents said, describing her behavior throughout the trip as “motivational.”
Serter noted that the group operates under the sole threat of being acquired by Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro’s forces, and that he did not rest until Machado was in Norway.

“When I saw María hugging her daughter I took a deep breath,” she said.

Machado has been in hiding since January after being arrested in Caracas, his supporters say, after joining crowds protesting Maduro’s inauguration. There has long been criticism of the Maduro regime and its rigged elections, and he leads Venezuela’s main opposition movement.
He won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for his work promoting democracy and human rights. Machado is very grateful to President Donald Trump for his support and told FOX News Digital that he presented the award to him.

Her daughter, Ana Corina Sosa, accepted the award in her place on Wednesday, saying that her mother “will not stop living for a free Venezuela.
Machado’s release comes as the US steps up pressure on the Maduro government. Earlier in December, the White House confirmed to the military that the military seized a multimillion-dollar tanker believed to be carrying Iranian oil.
