While you won’t be able to include a paper image – the beauty of thousands of bound and the tradition of turning the page – IeReader brings convenience and carrying a physical book just can’t beat it. Sure, you can throw a book in your tote bag, but what about the library altogether?
When you think of the best readers, your first thought might be the Amazon Kindle, however this is not a list of the best brands, although we have a list of those, too. While turyles are great – there’s certainly no denying that – you can find a few equally delicious alternatives.

So, what is the best e-reader of 2025? I regularly test eeeee-Reanders readers (and tablets) and cycling with different models to keep you up to date with the best options available. So, if you’re getting ready to read a lot of books this summer or fall, I can recommend a model you’ll love.
And, with Black Friday upon us, we’re approaching the perfect moment for student shopping. During Prime Day, we’re seeing a variety of discounts, but we’ll have to wait until Black Friday to find deals on other Kobos e-readers. Ahead of Black Friday, we’ve seen deals on the New Kindle Perseite, but we’ve caught more.

Recently, we tested the amazing PaperPro and Onyx Boox Go 7 as contenders in this list. After a few weeks of testing, both devices appeared to be good but not the ideal list.
Whenever you are looking for e-readers, amazing tablets will always appear in the search results, but unfortunately, it is difficult to find remarkable epub files. Surprisingly, you can import files within Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. If you have locked EPUB files – like from Libby – you won’t be able to access them on the amazing tablet. So, after testing the amazing template myself, it was a better document reader or digital journal than an e-reader.
The Onyx Boox Go 7 is a better e-Reader than it’s worth. It’s the same size as the Kobo Libra or Amazon Kindle, but it’s actually capable of faster processing. To read EPUB files from Libby you need to download the Adobe Digital Editions app on the Boox Go 7, and there was a lot of lag when opening the app. While it was a simpler process than getting library books on the nook, it was still a huge pain compared to the Khobo integration. The boox goes 7 lagged and took ages to load files. I was looking forward to testing this boox box because of the page turn buttons, but unfortunately, I found that they didn’t work on my device.

What about the Kindle Paterwhite Signature Edition?
If you’re familiar with the Kindle line, it may come as a surprise that the Kindle Persewhinature Paperback is not on this list. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great, but I think there are better options. The Signature Edition is an upgraded version of the Paperwhite, and we’ve compared it to flagship devices. Short version? The Paperwhite is a better value, even with the SE’s added features like automatically adjustable brightness and 32GB of storage.
If you’re willing to spend $200 on an e-Reader, however, I’d skip the Kindle Paterwhipleature Edition and go for the Kobo Libra.
Where is the nook on this list?
As far as e-bafueds go, you might notice one omission from this list: the Barnes & Noble Nook. I checked this e-reader, and it previously appeared on this list. However, after testing multiple devices, it didn’t make the cut. Compared to any holbo or Kobo Libra, the nook has similar performance, which makes it frustrating to use.
Also, getting my showbooks onto the nook was a nightmare, as it was a multi-step process that required downloading to the computer before uploading to the nook. Its only redeeming quality is the buttons on both sides of the device, which make the page open a breeze. However, unless you are a loyal buyer of Barnes and Beable books, I recommend moving to the nook.
Where to get e-Reader books for free
Once you get a student, it’s time to fill out books, and that doesn’t mean spending money. In fact, you can upload your e-reader without spending money; You just need to have a little skill.
The best way to read almost any book – a new release or a hot new release – is by bibliography. I’ve read hundreds of free books with the Libby app – I wouldn’t have been able to review this guide without it. It connects with your Library Card, allowing you to borrow your local digital collection. Also, both Kobo and Kindle have different Libby integrations.
Another way to build your library is by using your personal Kindle items. These are 24-hour opportunities led by authors who make books discounted or free.
If you are a lover of the Classics or want to find a treasure lost to time, an online resource like Project Gutenberg has more than 75,000 books in the public domain that you can download and read on an e-reader.
