While there were others who wanted to see Aspinall keep fighting, MMA Fighter Sean O’Malley defended him because of how dangerous Gane defended him.
“He’s the UFC heavyweight champion of the world, he’s just got the bad eye, and he’s fighting a big box kickboxer [bone]the eye is swollen and he cannot see. That is different. … Tom Aspinall will fight that. “
During the incident, Gane appeared to give Aspinall all he could handle, as Aspinall’s nose was covered in blood before the pow-poke. And if this was a title fight, the crowd and everyone involved in the UFC would have loved to see a proper ending.

Aspinall, 32 years old from England, has not been in the Octagon since July 2024 when he dropped Curtis Blayde one minute into the first round. Aspinall was redeemed by losing just 15 seconds behind the blydes in July 2022 after suffering a hamstring injury.
Aspinall is 15-3 in his UFC career with 11 knockouts, and has never gone past the third round in any of his outings.
