Trump is suspending immigration from 19 countries with an existing travel ban

The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that there would be a temporary suspension of travel from 19 countries that were already under full or partial travel restrictions.

The nations affected are Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equndial Guinea, Eritrea, Libya, Soos, Cuba, Cuba, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.

The temporary suspension, effective immediately, applies to people from 19 countries listed in the US on or after Jan 20, 2021, the day of the inauguration of President Joe Biden. Immigrants from one of the 19 countries who come to the US after that date will be subject to a review process that may include an interview and a screen for national security risk and public safety risk.

It also affects all green card and citizenship applications for anyone hailing from one of the currently restricted countries. People from one of the 19 nations who have already passed the citizenship test will not be able to have US citizenship ceremonies until the directive is lifted.

Several reddit users on the “R/USCIS” Subreddit posted about their canceled swearing-in ceremonies. One user said he was from Portland, Ore., and his biological wife said the festival, which was scheduled for December 3, was canceled. Many seem unsure why the ceremonies are no longer held, citing a lack of information.
