While many Democrats were up in arms over President Donald Trump’s decision to arrest Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro on drug-trafficking and terrorism charges, former President Joe Biden’s earlier taunts resurfaced Sunday and were quickly retracted.

In response to a report by Axios on June 21, 2020, that Trump would consider meeting with Maduro after the official ignored an election against opposition leader Juan Guaidó, Biden said “Trump talks tough about Venezuela, but praises criminals and dictators like Nicolás Maduro.”

“As President, I will stand with the Venezuelan people and democracy,” Biden added.

THE CASE OF THE VENEZUELAN PRESIDENT NICOLAS MADURO REPRESENTS TO US THE HISTORY OF DEALING WITH DRUGS OF THEIR PEOPLE.

Immediately after working over the weekend in Miraflores – the official residence of the Venezuelan dictator – conservatives and at least one left-leaning political activist highlighted that, in the words of several citizen respondents, the comment “gets old like milk.”

“Whoops,” commented Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., is running for governor of Yellowhammer County again this year.

“And now, every Democrat is criticizing the government for issuing a warrant while we sleep,” Tuberville said.

The Auburn football legend went on to say that Biden’s comments show that “Democrats have no principles.” [and] almost any way the left wind blows for power.”

“Yesterday’s margaritas and Kilmar Abrego Garcia are today’s Maduro,” he said. “They will support a drug-trafficking dictator because this was another win for Trump. It’s guaranteed.”

The Trump campaign’s “Rapid Response 47” X account echoed Biden’s message, responding with a photo of Maduro blindfolded on a US government plane following his capture.

“It’s a tweet that hasn’t aged well,” added Fox News host and former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

“Did someone call to see if Joe is still asleep?” noted Pennsylvania State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, representing Butler County; where Trump was almost killed in 2024.

Another respondent to X responded with a clip of Earl Sinclair from the 1990s ABC sitcom, “Dinosaurs,” expressing surprise and dropping a glass.

GREGG JARRETT: NO, TRUMP’S ORDER TO TAKE OFF MADURO IS NOT ILLEGAL OR UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

“This has aged well,” said Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, about Biden’s comments.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., added in a statement on social media that Trump “doesn’t just talk tough, he’s tough.”

“Does Joe Biden have anything to say now?” he asked, as some critics cited Biden’s second comment since then in which the Delaware Democrat called Maduro a dictator and condemned his “human rights violations and extrajudicial killings.”

“Wait. You mean diplomacy ‘Don’t’ failed?” commented former NYPD inspector Paul Mauro, who is also a Fox News contributor.

Mauro was referring to Biden’s widely publicized response to the question of what his message to Iran would be to stop them from intervening in Israel. “Don’t do it,” Biden replied before leaving the stage where he was speaking on MS-NOW host Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.

In 2022, Biden’s running mate John Kerry — a former Massachusetts senator — was caught on video shaking hands and smiling in a brief conversation with Maduro at that year’s United Nations climate change conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

When pressed on the surprisingly pleasant greeting, Kerry’s spokesman Ned Price said the Venezuelan leader “disrupted the ongoing meeting at COP27” and called the exchange “a very unplanned interaction.”

Some critics pointed out that former President Barack Obama established the first fine on Maduro’s head in 2015 through an executive order, which was increased by the Biden administration, doubled to $50 million by Trump recently.

“Joe Biden hated Maduro so much. He didn’t have the guts to get him,” said Ja’Mal Green, a former Chicago mayor and community activist who once sided with Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vt., but appeared sour on some of the left’s policies under current Mayor Brandon Johnson and now identifies as “political.”

“Everything [Biden] what you do is to impose sanctions and never receive the money owed. Democrats should stop.”

“Under Biden, you watched Maduro kill and oppress the people of Venezuela. You watched as Maduro lost the election but then he said he won. Then he allowed millions of Venezuelans to come to the United States to seek refuge, which cost us billions of dollars,” said Green, who also criticized Johnson about Chicago’s response to the illegal immigration crisis.

“Under Trump, Maduro FAFO. He sneaked in and got him out of the country completely,” Green said.

“Despite our differences, sometimes negotiation doesn’t work, and we must use aggression to free the nation. Trump freed the people of Venezuela today and I hope that one day they can go home to a stable country.”

Green talked about the recent nationwide protests against Trump and said that the saddest part of the “socialist[s] crying about Trump taking Maduro [was] saying that it is because he wants a change of government. Maduro did not win the election. He is only there because he took over the world. I thought you didn’t want kings.”
