Vice President JD Vance he said Thursday that Democrats’ behavior during this week’s State of the Union speech “has shown us that we cannot return power to the Democratic Congress” in the November midterm elections.
Vance, speaking during a tour of a mission center in Plover, Wis., made the remarks before ripping Democrats for not standing up Tuesday. in support Dalila Coleman, a young child who survived after an illegal immigrant from India allegedly crashed the car she was in on a highway in San Bernardino County, California, in June 2024.
“I want to talk about the numbers coming out in November, because it feels like this November election is a long way off. But if anything, the State of the Union should show us that we can’t give back power to the Democrats in Congress,” said Vance.
“Now, I have a lot of hope for this country. I believe that the majority of people, the majority of the people, the majority of American citizens, whether they have a D next to their name or an R next to their name or participate in politics, they are good people. They love our country. They want our country to succeed and be successful. But I have to tell you, after the State of the Union they saw that the Democratic Alliance saw that in the “State of the Union Address,” Vance continued.

“For example, you have this beautiful little girl. She had such a beautiful moment with her father. You may remember, she was about six years old. She was abused by an illegal immigrant. She had a very bad, I think, medical prognosis. But it turned out that she was fine. This 6-year-old girl, she was hurt by someone who was never the first in this country, Joe from the Democratic Alliance. ” Vance said.
“And he hugged his father, and he’s so happy. And you can tell, and I think everybody’s heart feels good, you know, you get that warm and fuzzy feeling. And then I look over Congressional Democrats, as well they are just staring. They can’t clap their hands at a 6-year-old child who survived an attack from an illegal alien. What is that?” the vice president added. “What kind of person can’t stand up and cheer for an innocent girl who is doing well, showing the whole country strength and resilience?”

The driver of the 18-wheeler that allegedly hit Coleman has been identified as Partap Singh, who is facing three counts of vehicular homicide and one related to immigration.
“I think that when that little girl stood up and hugged and kissed her father, that those Democrats, there was at least a part of them, a part of their person and soul that wanted to stand up and be happy for that little girl. And they all sat on their hands. And you have to ask yourself, why is that?” Vance said.

“And the answer is because they know they don’t answer to you, they answer to someone else. They answer the people who committed corruption in this country,” he concluded, “They answer the people who opened the border. They are responsible for people who are rich with illegal immigration. We want you guys to get rich off the labor of American citizens. We want American workers to get rich through hard work, not illegal aliens. And that, to me, is the key difference between congressional leadership and congressional Democrats and congressional Republicans under the leadership of this president.”
