Verizon’s Ad Defies Cry Physics

I know there are big fish in the fry, but I wouldn’t be doing my job if I couldn’t take care of this verizon commercial trip that was just released. It’s only 30 seconds long but it might go down as one of the worst commercials I’ve ever seen.

What’s so offensive, you ask? Well, the owner (and the one-time parent company of Engadget) that wants to promote the fact that it will offer AT & T customers and T All is well and good, but we need to talk about the cathode-ray tube tv at the center of the commercial.

The ad opens with a woman entering a supermarket with codes and handing a 27-inch CRT TV to a nearby Associate. "Hello, I found this old item and the bill from the shop where I got it," He tells the young assistant as he throws the TV at him. "Thinking you can beat it with a better deal than one of these big boys," he adds, pointing out, let’s be honest, a It’s a flat panel TV at its worst.

Now, I need to know: Is there anyone working on this to try and upgrade the CRT? Look, I know it’s 2025, and the new sets are now close to two decades old, but even if you’ve never seen one in real life, surely you’ve heard how heavy they are? If I had to guess, the TV we see in commercials, looks like The RCA 27R411T, weighs close to 75 pounds. There is a reason to be included in the Facebook Marketplace multi-platform system. You recommend that you bring your friend when you come and take the CRT they sell; Most people can’t even increase the size in their middle.

I hate to think how verizon does this commercially. CRTSs are a dead technology. No company is making new sets for consumers to set up, and any working CRTs are left in the world on borrowed time. If the company is always working to do this in the trade, then there is another CRT below the pool that it lives on. Someone could enjoy that TV and stop it from entering into the fullness of the earth.

But as far as retail sales go, it’s been equally bad. No big box retailer accepts TRT TV commercials, and even if there were, trying to end one that way would be a rookie move. CRTSs, both TVs and monitors, are highly sought after by retro gamers. Even an unknown set like the 27R411T can fetch several hundred dollars, especially if it’s in good condition. In fact, it’s fast An eBay search returns a seller looking for a $350 unit for their 27R411T unit.

But you know what our beloved verizon booster is? He just walked out of the CRT after the salesman told him that the store wouldn’t offer him anything better than a new TV. "Guess you’re not as cool as verizon" He says, explaining something no one in history has ever said. Sorry, joke on you, lady. Not only is the TV’s brightness dim, it’s way cooler than anything verizon has ever made.
