There are several good online resources that can let you know how many inches – or dare I say feet – of snow has fallen anywhere in the country. So, whether you’re checking on your older kids, a distant relative, or your own yard, here’s how to check how many inches of snow have fallen.
NWS snow map and NWS snow analysis
Perhaps the easiest and most direct way to find out how much snow is falling in your city is from the National Weather Service. That’s it National Weather Service snow map as well as National Weather Service Snow Analysis map. Both maps track how much snow, measured in inches, has fallen and put it on a map of the US in a simple and easy-to-understand way. Snowmap tracks snowfall in a given US city by using circular markers colored to match snowfall amounts, while the Snowfall Analysis website displays snowfall in a standard weather report design. Users can check how much snow has fallen in the past hour, the past 24 hours, and the past 72 hours.
It’s important to note that the NWS Snowmap and Snowfall Analysis sites only track how much snow has already fallen — they are not forecasting services.

There is wind includes a very interactive map, but there are also premium options that require a paid subscription, so unless you’re a die-hard weather person who wants more than just how many inches fell in your city, it might make more sense to check out other platforms.

National Centers for Environmental Information US Daily Snowfall and Snow Depth the report will provide more accurate information when it comes to how much snow has fallen in your area.
However, the snow report will usually arrive in a few days after the snow has fallen. Why? Because the data is extracted from the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCNd) database, which basically records daily weather summaries from global stations around the world.
With over 100,000 stations, this data is as accurate as you’ll get if you want to know how much snow has fallen in a certain area.
