“Corporations got huge tax breaks, $7 billion in big, bad tax breaks,” Jayapal said. “That’s why the stock market is doing well, because the stock is actually, you know, a lot of those big companies feel like they’re doing just fine, they’re continuing to get a big tax break.”

Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, D-MD., said “it doesn’t matter what the stock market says, [Americans] they saw the cost of food was endless. They see that the cost of health care has increased dramatically. They can’t afford it. They cannot afford the cost of goods. “

“That’s what they expect us to respond to, how we affect them and their daily lives. And that’s what I got from doing,” he continued.

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., told fox digital news that “every American knows that the price of goods in terms of taxes is high.”

“The stock market is important to a lot of people, but prices are more important to people. And right now, people are hurting because of Trump’s economic policies,” he said. “This is not where the Democrats are. It’s true that tariffs are costing consumers thousands of dollars.”

He explains: “You have to separate the short term from what will happen in the long run. “They are trying to make an argument in the short term because of some challenges to get other countries to play well.”

“You have to work through the process,” Hoeven continued. “The President did that in his first term, and we ended up with big sales in China and other places, and that helped our markets and other sales. But it doesn’t happen overnight.”
